A quick and comforting cheesesteak-style dinner made with seasoned ground beef, sautéed peppers, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, sliced (150 g)

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced (120 g)

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced (120 g)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon (1 g) smoked paprika

  • 4 hoagie rolls

  • 6 slices provolone cheese or 1 1/2 cups (170 g) shredded mozzarella

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté onions and peppers until softened.

  • Add garlic and cook briefly.

  • Brown ground beef and season with spices.

  • Stir vegetables and beef together and top with cheese.

  • Cover until cheese melts, then serve on warm rolls.

Notes

  • Use a wide skillet for better browning. Warm rolls before serving for the best texture. Leftover filling can be refrigerated and reheated easily.
